The bond of fatherhood
Need some advice
I have been with my girlfriend for almost 2 years now. We have 4 kids together. The oldest is 9 years old and she has a problem with stealing things. And it's weird things. For example she takes pens, small toys and a couple of times, she has taken my digital camera. We have talked to her over and over and I even had a family friend, who is a cop come and talk to her about what will happen if she continues to steal. And nothing is working. So everytime she comes home from school with something we have to call the school and find out if she took it. I need on some advice on how to handle her when she does this agian.........

Comment by Scott Jackson McGowan on February 26, 2010 at 1:30pm - My 10 Year Old Done The Same Thing And My wife Took Out The Bible And Read The Part about stealing And The Took Her Right Hand And Taped It Closed With Duck Tape And Told Her In Bible Times You would Lose A Hand If You Stole. My 10 year old Had To Deal Without Using Her Had For A Whole Day And Then The Next Time She Did It She Lost use Of Both hands She Has Never Done It Again

I havn't had that difficulty, but I know when I was a kid and stole something, my parents would have me return it to the person and appologize, this didn't do anything but embaress me. Maybe try everytime she steals from someone, you take away one of her toys? Good luck.
