Okay here is my frustration and anxiety. I have a large family until August I have a means of financially supporting my family. After the last day in August I will not have any garuantee of income. Four years ago I chose to become a teacher. My graduate degree is in History with a pre-law emphasis. I knew teaching would be difficult I did not know finding a job would be so challenging. I worked at Adams Cith High School for the last three years. Every performance observation was positive and I felt I was doing an excellent job. I know I am good teacher and have a lot to offer but when there are only five opening in the entire metro area and over 100 applicants for each job I have about a 1% chance of finding a job. Even though I have three years experience with a very demanding student population I have no idea if I will have a job in the fall. So what do you do with six other people to support? Well right now I am working for a landscaping company to make some extra money and save it for the school year if I can't find a full time position. Worse case scenario I sub for a year and try again next spring to find a teaching job. I have only had two interviews and I have not heard back from either one of them. I know the economy sucks and I am sure I am not the only father concerned about my families financial security. I am not sure my wife understands the stress and concern I have. Any suggestions?
